Me too. I think ‘55 and ‘56 Fords had some gorgeous color combinations.

On some cars maybe. The Gumpert Apollo and the Veyron look much better in single colors etc..

Patrick George disagrees.

I agree, I love Two and even some Tri-tone paint jobs.

Aside from the Camaro and maybe Challenger I’m having a hard time thinking of a car that it would work well on.

My personal favorite is black and pink.

2 tone paint on these soulless blobs of plastic and metal that are put out these days? Nah it would just look wrong. I cannot think of one mainstream car it would look good on, even a Flex...

See I think the Veyron looks better with a two tone.

You think two tone would work well on a Challenger and Camaro? I never thought of that

Fine we will remedy the situation by bringing back chrome and tail fins. Then two tone will look good on a modern car

I see it on chargers all the time. Looks like garbage. Most modern cars don't have the lines to pull it off

Arguing 2 tone is like arguing over F1 with a Nascar fan, they may never agree! I only like it on classics that work with it, otherwise it looks cheap to me.

We don’t need fins to pull it off.

Two tone on most modern cars looks like crap. I see it fairly often. They don't have the right body lines. Also, if you look at all the great two tone cars of the past they have chrome or polished metal trim to break it up. Do that to a modern car and it'll look like someone raided the local parts store for shiny stuck on crap.

Obligatory.

Two-Tone will come back in style when carbon fiber finds itself in more sports and luxury cars a la BMW i8.

You’re a bit limited to the body lines but it doesn’t look too bad.

I’m ok with the Chrome and Fins. Especially if it’s some Retro Caddy.

But..

If Dagmar bumpers come back I will hold you personally responsible!

I’ve seen the Chargers too. Usually on monstrously ugly 22” rims too. Not a fan.

I agree, it adds some visual interest and breaks up a car’s mass a bit. Swoopy creases down the sides are kind of a fad in the industry right now, and those cars would lend themselves to two tone quite well (LaCrosse, Fusion, Sonata, etc.).

I suppose it just costs more than manufacturers want to spend, which is why only really high end cars like Bugattis and Rolls-Royces still offer it.

Also why you can’t get a color-keyed interior on a mainstream car anymore.
